Day 2: June 11th, A Mini-Ragnar

Ragnars are the rage this year! Several of our kids and their spouses have run Ragnars which is beyond my ability to understand. But they trained and they worked hard to get in shape and they ran….hundreds of miles on teams….all day and through the night. Wild!

But Ragnar fever spread to the fam and even though we should really just call it a relay, it was SO fun! Every man woman and child who could walk ran in teams from our cabin to the family’s favorite burger place, The Bear Cave….eleven miles away!  We had five teams, eight on a team, with a good mixture of kids and adults and it was a riot!

We all wore our new (For Real Life) Tee shirts and lined up in order of the first to join the family to the last baby (with the possibility of a new family member at the end….Charity’s boy!)

Shawni was taking the picture here so she doesn’t stand next in line, but you get the idea. The line was LONG!  Richard and I were numbers 1 and 2 and it went on down to Zara (#42).

There was a lot of hilarious trash talking as well as encouraging words along the way!

Kristi on the left (below) had just run the most recent ragnar. Just look at that form! Elle who is in excellent form from being a great high school tennis player is finding it hard to keep up!

The Greasel was definitely the fastest car (except cars don’t count).

We enjoyed the ride between turns!

And the kids loved hanging on the cars waiting for their turns.

Some even took the time to stretch out!

And then make a wild dash!

Teams ran in together at the finish line!

Oops, that one guy on the right (below) must have lost a shoe!

And that cute cubby seems to have lost half his pants!

From there it was Raspberry Shake time at the Bear Cave. They tasted pretty good I must say.

(Note Elsie’s running shoes)

I have to say that our team WON! I also have to admit that we had three bona fide athletes on our team (not counting me).

Who would know that this team didn’t win?

Go father and son team!
