Lake Baptism

Another historic baptism took place at Bear Lake this summer!  Eva, our “ almost daughter” entered our lives via Saren who brought her home from Bulgaria when she returned from her missionary service there. Although Eva was an only child, her valiant parents allowed us to care for her for a few years with the hope that she would have a better chance for happiness in the US. Eva, now a wife and the mother of three joined us for a couple of days of our reunion from New England along with her stellar husband Adam, who just happened to be the son of our dear friend Barbara. Eva has brought a lot of joy into our lives, exudes sunshine and is now a world-renowned photographer.

Their little son London (born in London), having just turned eight, was excited to be with us from New England where his family lives to join the ranks of Eyres who have baptized at the lake. Adam’s mother, three brothers and a sister drove to the lake for this grand occasion. Thanks to the cameras of Shawni, Josh, Kristi and Eva herself as well as a few of my own, we have a record of this incredible day!

On Friday morning we held a service at our Bamboo House, presided over by a friend who is in the Dingle Ward bishopric (our home ward in the summer). Adam conducted the service and Eva gave a beautiful talk on the importance of baptism.

And then all fifty two of us made the trek to the lake to view the baptism.

After the baptism we loaded our gaggle of kids in the truck for a short drive to the Lighthouse for London’s confirmation and breakfast.

Now that’s a truckload of happy kids!  (Above photo by Josh, below by Eva).

Again, Adam conducted the meeting and gave London a most remarkable blessing for his coming life!

What a lucky little boy to have all these magnificent men who love him (plus several others, not shown).

LH Confirmation

The sprit was thick. It was a day none of us will ever forget!
