On Sunday night after conference we had a chance to meet with some of our missionaries! How can all those years be gone? In July it will be 36 years since we left. I was 29 and Dad/Rick was 31. Almost all our terrific missionaries are now grandparents. How can that be? We took four kids with us all those years ago. Saren was 5 1/2, Shawni, 4, Josh 2 and Saydi was 11 months.
It was amazing to catch up on their kids and grandkids and remember some of our great times together! Dad loved entertaining them with some memories:
There is a great story behind each of these faces which I won’t take the time to tell but so many memories flood back when I see these great people!
A cute lady showed up that no one knew. She was full of life and had obviously had a hard life! She was British, had worked in the London Temple and kept us entertained with her abilities as a real clown. She even got Dad/Rick juggling. How she knew about the reunion or where she came from….no one knows but she was really entertaining!
Below is our beloved Elder Maw with his darling wife Nena. For many years he has managed the Valuesparenting website. He has a webmaster who does our graphics and a manager who takes care of Joy Schools and more than we will ever know. We love this crew!
This is Elder Freeman who is teaching down at BYU, wrote this book on World War II and babysat for us along with Elder Swenson on the night that Talmadge was born (both Jonah and Tal were born while we were there). Such amazing memories!
Memory lane is a good place! It was great to see these good people who are now contributing much to the work of the Lord in their own realm!
