Old town in Prague is something to behold! No wonder people call it the most beautiful city in the world. The old clock tower in the center of the square is the site of many weddings as well as the gathering place for tourists galore to see some little figurines pop out of the clock and sing a little song every hour.
We climbed the tower and this was our 360 degree view:
The crowd waiting for the clock to do it’s thing:
These “new age” bikes are everywhere:
After a quick river cruise…..essential for dad in any city that has a river:
Back to the hotel and a nice lunch with “Chef Roman” who prepared our five star dinner the other night. He is also the Chef at the Radisson in a cozy small restaurant that seats only about 18.
And we were on to our next adventure….a real one….on an overnight train from Prague, Czech Republic to Krakow, Poland. Dad LOVES trains and boat, but after that night maybe not so much on the overnight trains. He had a sleek sleeper car in mind. What ended up with was a compartment with rock hard beds and wool blankets that made the compartment smell like a horse barn. It was….let’s say…an experience:
This was the sight above us. They told us that there weren’t any more private compartments left so we thought with every stop throughout the night that we would be joined by someone else. Yikes! No one ever came. We left at 8 p.m. and at midnight they stopped for three hour, I guess so we wouldn’t have to arrive in Prague at 4 a.m. Weird! There must have been a reason, but why not just leave at 11 p.m. and go straight through?
It got light at about 4 a.m. so we got to see some of the countryside before we arrived….in between cat-naps.
And on to the famous Krakow!
