Walking Through Leaves and Memories

We had some pretty incredible “rivers of color” here in Utah just as I left for Boston last week but I have to say that there is nothing like New England in the fall! Even though autumn is late this year there was plenty to see! The graveyard about a half a block from Saydi’s house is full of autumn splendor:

The next day we headed for Wellesley College where three of our daughters graduated from college. Saren, Saydi and Charity attended there and our fourth daughter Shawni opted to attend Boston University but spent a lot of time there and named her first daughter Wellesley (although she goes by Elle).

What a walk down memory lane that was!

Here are the Wellesley Girls in front of Tower, the biggest dorm on campus.

We walked through Severance Hall where Saydi spent many hours one of the years she was there. The great room is stellar! Here’s little Emmeline perhaps contemplating her future days at Wellesley.

Saydi immediately sat down at the Steinway grand and played the last dramatic pieces she learned when she was taking lessons. It was divine to hear her play!

The kids sat on the bench where Saydi spent many hours doing homework and falling asleep for the bit of the night that was left.

Hazel and Peter also gazed out at the location where their dad asked their mom to marry him. And later where Charity opened her mission call. Little  did they know that someday their little children would be looking out on the sight!

Then we frolicked around campus on a simply stellar autumn day!

The now famous Eyre-Wellesley Lanterns (one of our sons saw that we had one of these on our property).

From there we jumped in the car and drove with four hungry kids to the Crane Estate where we met our darling Bulgarian daughter Eve Koleva Timothy and her three delightful children.

It is always a delight to be with Eva who came to us as as a teenager and has since become a world class photographer and educator.  For her latest project with TED ED click here.

The Crane Estate was spectacular and a perfect place for the kids to run endlessly. How fun it was to catch up with Eva and enjoy an stellar warm fall day
