What terrific hosts greeted us in Guadalajara! They are a young couple with two darling boys and had organized our event there masterfully. Fortunately for us, they had a membership at the most elegant country club in Guadalajara just across the street from our hotel, where they took us to lunch. It was glorious to be warm again and to see the sparkling sun on trees with purple blossoms as far as we could see!
This lovely woman’s parents are from Austria and she speaks four languages fluently! Her husband is Mexican and running a family business, along with many other things. They are totally dedicated to making their family their first priority and we loved our fascinating conversation. By the way we also enjoyed some extraordinary Mexican food there.
After lunch we wandered over to the indoor swimming pool where their three year old was taking lessons and then on to the football (soccer) field where their five year old was practicing.
Pretty sweet life! Not bad for us either! Again, a beautiful hotel with a beautiful breakfast buffet. Even a saxophone player at breakfast!
And an especially brilliant group of about 75 parents. Most had read The Entitlement Trap which was basically our topic so we had a lot of fun! Such excellent parents raising children in an affluent environment and trying to be learn how to do that better! Can’t you just see the good in their faces?
When asked how many ate at least one meal with their children every day almost every hand went up.They are a truly family-oriented culture! One family had nine children.Their six girls slept in one bedroom and the three boys in another. Another family just had their sixth child.
How lucky are we to be associated with these good people?
