Reunion Day 1 Thursday July 10, 2013

So much happened in our four days together that I’m just going to have to report this a day at a time. I’m doing this mostly to create a record of our fun together for our family history so forgive us if it’s more than you want to know! Thanks to Shawni, Kristi and Josh and a few pics stolen from other kids’ blogs, I have enough photos to tell the story. Thanks to all for sharing!

We were so happy to back together, meeting new babies, cousins bonding with each other, aunts and uncles bonding with nieces and nephews, siblings and in-laws re-connecting.grandparents in their glory!

This year our reunion schedule was created by Noah and Kristi. Bless their hearts. They used their creativity and great ideas to work on creating great memories! We started with a meeting outlining our activities for those four precious days when we were all together.

Let’s take a closer look at that schedule, created by Noah and Kristi and masterfully drawn by Charity:

After a delectable dinner prepared by Charity and Ian, Noah and Kristi introduced everyone to our new playground…a whole new lot full of lush new grass.

They then unrolled some pictures from the balcony that we haven’t seen for many years! Some nice company did these huge pictures for us in 1991 during Rick’s campaign for Governor and they were one of our “finds” in the attic when we moved out of our house. they also presented the theme of the Reunion (which originally came out of Lyla’s mouth) which was printed on our Tee shirts: FOR REAL LIFE!  And indeed this proved to be a reunion “For Real Life”,

From there we divided up into groups of two, had a couple of minutes to find out something we didn’t know about that person (an adult with a child) and then tell what we learned about that person to the group.  Fun stuff!

Evening was coming on and everyone was excited about our the first Bear Lake Sunset of the reunion and the annual bonfire. That fire represents more than just smores, it’s where we usually hear the music everyone has sent in as their favorite song of the year and everyone else guesses who sent it in. It’s always a fun introduction to some music that Dad/Rick and I haven’t heard and adds to the favorites of the kids. Every person, man woman and child is represented by their favorite of the year.

At the end of hearing the new CD, Noah and Kristi showed the hysterical music video we had been making all day under their direction on a screen in the sand. It turned out to be one of the great highlights of the reunion!  Somehow they managed to include every single person in this fun and funny production (especially funny to those who were there). To view it as well as several out-takes click here

Smores then abounded!
