The big event on the afternoon of the 2nd day was our Second Annual Fear Factor. I should say before I go any further that the photos for our reunion (previously and henceforth) are mostly from Kristi, Shawni and Josh’s cameras. I took a few too but you just can’t beat those people’s amazing cameras with an IPhone 4S…as well as these amazing photographer's abilities to catch the moment!
And before you see these pictures you should know that Eli and Julie who are basically in charge of this fun game made it very clear that no one is required to participate AND that there is a prize for every round that the kids completed. No pressure to stay in if they just can’t stomach the strange and sometime fearsome food that he always finds from Japan (his second home).
I’m not sure who has the most fun here, the participants (despite the horrified looks that often appear on their faces) or the audience (the adults). So here we go with the Second Annual Fear Factor Competition:
Here comes Eli introducing the first round: Lemon slices
The anticipation builds:
Total concentration:
Introducing a sweet jelly drink…a thick drink with globs of jelly that don’t go down well.
Note the barf bucket above. I agree, It think this was almost the worst!
Next course….dried sea weed:
Lucy wasn’t too happy about this course….
But she was THRILLED with her prize:
Introducing the next course:
Eliza thought it was delicious!
Remember as you see the next few photos that the kids had a ball looking back at themselves looking so distressed!
Lucy and Elsie cheering on their cousins Cam and Ashton.
McKay was THRILLED OUT OF MIND that he made it to the final round!
Until he saw what he had to eat…..roasted squid:
Camden continued his intense concentration and was the first one to actually swallow everything and open his/her mouth to show that it was gone.
Everybody was happy for the winner (as far as we know).
Another fun and funny memory!
