Life just flies by so fast! On this blog we went straight from Singapore to our miraculous baby story to Mother’s Day. But a few things were squished in on all sides of those momentous events so in an effort to remember, I’m posting a few things to remind me of the fun stuff that happened that haven’t been recorded.
Two days after we arrived home from Singapore, Power of Moms launched their new book Motherhood Realized, which we talked about a lot on this blog but I didn’t get a chance to post the pictures of the beautiful women who came. Some came to read their essays. Some came to hear them and all were involved in engaging groups after the formal part of the meeting to talk about their own motherhood issues, always an important part of these gatherings for Mothers. As always it was a fun and inspiring evening!
Gotta love that Saren! Even though you may think I’m prejudice because she’s our outstanding oldest child, I’m not. She’s just amazing! Sorry that April wasn’t in sight when I took the picture because she’s amazing too!
My sensational sister and several of her daughters came because one of her daughters read her essay (Taunie in the orange.) You can only see the top of Lenna’s head. Darn!
As usual, we were inspired at General Conference by so many of our church leaders that it was impossible to pick a favorite. The flowers at Temple Square were astonishing. It’s amazing what nature can produce with a little help from their friends.
We had a fun little Missionary Reunion with just a few of our missionaries. Since it’s been 38 years since we left for our mission in London, England in 1976 and our missionaries were only about ten years younger then we were, it’s startling to realize that our dear young missionaries are now also grandparents! We reminisced and laughed until our sides hurt!
We got to sit on the very front row of a Jazz game since our neighbors have the best seats in the house!
We lost but it was pretty fun to watch this big guy!

Or be embarrassed by this guy! I hadn’t thought of that risk when we sat there!
A couple of darling baby moose showed up in our side yard:
And we had a extraordinary Power of Moms retreat at our home in Park City with 90 deliberate Mothers! These women are the mothers of 357 children and we are grateful for their husbands and mothers/mothers-in-law who are home taking care of the kids while they get some job training!
So many Mothers, each with their own unique and fascinating story! These women below are all sisters. Great day out!
The day-long retreat ended at five o’clock and at six Saren and April started the Power of Moms Board Meeting and dinner. It was so inspiring to hear how all these brilliant women with so many gifts from all across the country are volunteering their time for many long hours to the success of Power of Moms. Plus this is only half of them! What a team!
Sorry…blurry…but it’s all I’ve got!
On Saturday we were thrilled by Eliza’s Dance Concert with the Virginia Tanner Dance Company at Kingsbury Hall. That’s how children’s dance should be! It was glorious!
Jared’s mom was there from Ashton, Idaho and we had a great day!
We enjoyed some pizza together after the performance and Grandfather showed Eliza his pictures. Is she a beautiful girl or what?
The next day was Mother’s Day! It was snowing on our way to church! Merry Mother’s Day!
But it was a great day! Bonnie Goodliffe gave a spectacular lesson about her Mothers and Grandmothers, Kathy Clayton lead an outstanding discussion in SS and Dad/Rcik spoke in Sacrament Meeting. After that I dropped Rick off at the airport to fly to St. George to get the horses and I joined the Looslis for dinner in Ogden. .
When I got there, we heard a terrific concert from cute Ashton and adorable Eliza who are becoming outstanding musicians! Ashton is pretty much self taught and has a huge repertoire on the guitar as well as being a great singer and Eliza has a terrific Suzuki teacher.
Jared, who is the Bishop of their ward arrived home an hour and a half after their meetings and whipped up a delectable dinner for all three of the Mothers present! What a guy!
It was a very fine Mother’s Day! I had so much fun talking to our great kids. How could I be more blessed?

Ahh, the Dallas guy with the 41 on his shirt is Dirk Nowitzky, one of the German guys playing in the NBA. I would love to see a game with him :)

I have been following your blog for some time. I am also an avid reader of some of your children's blogs. This glimpse into the world of Eyrealm allowed me to form a good understanding of the type of parenting that you and your husband recommend.
Following the everyday lives of your daughters and sons (via their blogs) convinced me that setting the right values and choosing and implementing a strict, yet reasonable and loving framework enables kids to grow into happy, fulfilled and functioning adults.
In order to implement your parenting philosophy with my baby (due this summer), I am about to order some of your books through Amazon. I am thinking to start off with "Teaching Your Children Values" and "Three Steps to a Strong Family", followed a little later by "The Entitlement Trap".
Do you think this sequence makes sense?
