Venerable Venice!

Packed with spectacular spires, dazzling domes and wandering waterways, Venice is a city like no other in the world! The cruise ship pulled into this one-of-a-kind city early in the morning and the sight was exhilarating!

We had been here over 25 years ago. We were living in England at the time and sadly we were called home shortly after we arrived because 11-year-old Jonah had been hospitalized with pneumonia. We caught the first plane back to London which was in the very “back of the bus” in the days when there was a smoking section on airplanes. We choked on cigarette smoke all the way home! YUCK!

Needless to say, we were happy to go back in more pleasant circumstances!

The pictures will tell the story. It’s a pretty amazing place! All these pics were taken from the cruise ship with my fancy Iphone 6!

Almost looks like a mob scene as people were enjoying their day at St. Mark’s Square!

And later that day….we were some of them!

We simply couldn’t get enough gelato….with 20 flavors “to die for”!

The grand canal was remarkable….often filled with water taxis.

And our gondola ride was unforgettable.

Sadly, I sat directly across (two feet away) from Ian and Charity so I couldn’t get a good picture of that romantic couple, but I did get a couple of doozies of my guy!

Always fun to hear this on a gondola ride!

It was hard to find an unoccupied spot on the bridge to take a picture!  But somehow we managed.

So exciting to be walking the streets and mounting the bridges with these great “kids”!

Dad was pretty fascinated with the beautiful blown glass…but not quite enough to buy any!

Because our hotel was forty five minutes away and Charity and Ian had a 7 a.m.flight the next morning, we parted ways at this tower. We walked off with our tour group and Charity and Ian, of course, planned to climb this tower to the top and have some fun before retiring to their little hostel close by!

What a grand adventure we had!
